La Memoria is happy to announce the upcoming exhibition at Homesession of the artist Emily Thomas. The exhibition is a result of an international exchange prize between GlogauAIR Berlin & La Escocesa Barcelona. The prize aims to increase international exposure for artists & was awarded by La Memoria Artística Chema Alvargonzalez to Thomas in 2019.
In this solo exhibition, titled In the Melting Pot, Thomas consolidates her research of creative factories & urban developments in post-industrial neighbourhoods within Barcelona, including El Poblenou, Sant Andreu, Sant Just Desvern & Cal Rosal (Berga). Through a process of abstraction & metamorphosis, Emily has translated architectural characteristics found in these places into her sculptural work, reflecting an ever-changing sense of place.
