This exhibition talks about the artistic legacy of Chema Alvargonzalez, tracing a journey between Castelló de la Plana and Berlin, two key cities in the artist’s life. The idea of travel has a strong presence in the artistic work of Alvargonzalez and so it is in the exhibition. That is why the visitor will begin a journey where the artworks are conceptually spread around the ideas of transit, movement, and nomadism.

The artist’s work is presented as a large constellation, both in form and approach: a set of interconnected light spots. The title of the project comes from a previous light installation by Alvargonzalez entitled www.puntosdeluz.net (2002) at the Caixaforum in Barcelona. Here in the Sala San Miguel, these points of light continue to be joined together.

The exhibition has been divided into three parts that correspond to the three phases of flight: taking off, turning the world and landing. Taking off refers to the beginning of the journey – both in the exhibition and in the content of the pieces. In Turning around the world the artworks are conceptually situated under the ideas of transit, nomadism and movement. Finally, we end with Landing: the arrival at the destination.

The event, which takes place within the framework of the Imaginária 2022 photography festival, builds on the generosity marked by Chema Alvargonzalez, hosting in a section of the exhibition space the curated work of Laura Palau Barreda, Ainhoa Salas Richarte and Atom Samit. These artists were awarded the Hábitat Artístic Scholarship by the Castelló de la Plana Town Council to attend the GlogauAIR artists’ residency in Berlin, a vital legacy of the artist that reflects the ongoing interaction of the artist’s work with new generations. The selection goes under the title Constelación Castelló – Berlin.
